orange creamsicle smoothie recipe

This easy orange creamsicle smoothie will bring sunshine and energy to your day, no matter the weather outside!

Whenever I drink this orange creamsicle smoothie, I am taken back to when I used to play house league soccer, and after a game, we would get a treat – my absolute favourite treat being an orange creamsicle popsicle.

There’s nothing quite like those classic and timeless bright orange popsicles that taste like pure sugary, orangey, creamy goodness.

This orange creamsicle smoothie recipe is both nutritious and delicious (though not quite as sweet as a true orange creamsicle!) and can be blended up in minutes with just a few simple ingredients and no added sugars.

It’s the perfect drink for summer, with just the right amount of citrus and creaminess.

Here’s how to make this orange creamsicle smoothie…

How to Make an Orange Creamsicle Smoothie

Step 1: Gather ingredients

Oranges – you will need two large oranges, peeled and segmented. You can try using two cups of orange juice instead, but nothing will get you that vibrant orangey flavour like fresh, juicy oranges.

Frozen banana – banana is used to add natural sweetness, as well as add thickness, creaminess, and coldness to the smoothie. Banana also goes great with orange and the other ingredients, and does not overpower the other flavours in this recipe.

Milk is used as the liquid for this smoothie, to create the basis of the “creamsicle”.

To further enhance the creaminess, yogurt is added alongside the milk. Yogurt helps add to the creaminess of the blend, while also adding extra protein, nutrients, and probiotics.

You can use either regular yogurt or Greek yogurt – Greek yogurt will create a thicker and creamier blend.

Lastly, vanilla extract is a must for this recipe. The vanilla complements the orange and cream flavours perfectly, and pulls this dessert-like blend together.

Step 2: Blend!

Blend for about 30-60 seconds until smooth.

Note: you’ll want to make sure you blend the smoothie on high for long enough so that orange doesn’t leave behind any strings.
